GBCFC co-founders, Amber and Nicole Sallaberry, have been selected to be a part of this year’s Green Summit panel on Thursday, June 17, alongside, Josie Luciano from Urban Roots Garden Classrooms. Session will be moderated by Lynell Garfield, City of Reno.
The panel will provide an overview of food co-operatives and community development: economic, health and social benefits co-ops provide communities, our local food-shed, edible school gardens and the movement towards growing education around food, intentional agriculture. This session will also provide a discussion of foundations needed for community education around understanding our current local bounty, using it, and creating systems which allow it to sustain us throughout the year.
The Green Summit is an opportunity for residents to participate and help develop plans to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, recycle, create sustainable building practices, use environmentally friendly products and contribute in other ways to protect our environment.
