2013 Upcoming Election
Member-owners have a chance to elect several new board members each year. The next annual election is scheduled for September 2013. Voting takes place over a two-week period and votes can be cast electronically, in the store, or at the annual membership meeting.
The Board of Directors nominates candidates for election each year. We consider things like applicants’ past involvement with the GBCFC, understanding of the co-op’s purpose and goals, and the expertise they can bring to the board. We strive to choose nominees who best meet the current needs of the co-op and to give member-owners a choice of excellent candidates in each annual election. Recruitment of board members is ongoing and we are always looking for committed member-owners to apply for nomination. The board’s nominees are announced to the membership at least 90 days before the election. Member-owners who applied to be candidates but were not selected as nominees by the board may run for election independently by filing a Petition to Run for Election as a Member-Nominated Candidate. All candidates must be current member-owners of the co-op and they must have applied for nomination prior to the election in which they wish to run.

June 8 Board nominations announced
July 9 Candidate campaign statements and photos due
Member-nominated candidate petitions due
Member-owner ballot initiatives due
August 8 Candidate statements e-mailed to member-owners and posted on the GBCFC website and in the store
August 28 Record date (you must be listed as a current, paid up member of the GBCFC by this date to be eligible to vote in the election)
August 31 Voting begins
September 7 Annual membership meeting
September 14 Voting ends
September 21 Election results announced
