Jim and Tina Smith of Home Grown Nevada live in Wellington, NV. They have four children. The three girls are all off to college and their teenage son, John is still at home. They are a very kind and hard working family, always working together.
The Smith family is the third generation on their family farm. This year, due to water shortages and changes in their life, the Smiths are taking a leave of absence from the local produce scene. Co-op members will still be able to enjoy their grass-fed beef. This year they will be raising their grass-fed beef in Oregon where green pastures and rain are abundant.
During the past three (3) years, the Smith’s have been a main contributor of all sorts of vegetables to the Great Basin Community Food Co-op and CSA. Favorites were Trombollini Squash and bountiful basil bouquets that required both hands to hold.
The Grandmother in this Family, Tina’s mom, Ms Stevenson, makes the best pumpkin and pecan pie during season that you could ever dream of.
