The Great Basin Community Food Cooperative is sustained primarily by the volunteer hours from our member workers.
What is a member-worker?
A member-worker is a current GBCFC member who donates their time working either in the store or outside of it (see below for more ideas on how to get involved).
Donating Up to Six (6) Hours
Member-workers who donate six (6) or more hours a month are eligible for a 15 percent discount at the register (up to $100 in groceries)
Donating Up to Eight (8) Hours
Member-workers who donate eight or more hours a month are eligible for a 15 percent discount at the register (up to $100 in groceries) and receive NO MARK-UP on special orders!
Why become a member worker?
It’s a great way to meet other members in the community, you will be helping to sustain and develop Reno’s only food co-op, you will be supporting the local food movement, did we mention the discount? What about that good feeling that you get when you watch something amazing grow in your community?
GBCFC Member-Worker Shifts
Tuesday and Fridays are our order intake days. We receive grocery deliveries at 5AM on these days that we can always use help unloading and stocking. If you are brave enough to wake up at 5AM, please stop by and help out!
You can help out in the store as a volunteer cashier. Before signing up for a volunteer cashier shift, you’ll need to do a short register training. Register trainings are held every Saturday morning at 8AM.
Finally, many member-workers prefer to work out of the store by joining committee .
