August is our time to celebrate and enjoy the last bounty of summer before we say goodbye to summertime. Here are some great tips to take into the end of the summer and the beginning of fall!
It may be nearing the end of summer, but your skin still needs some love! Check your sunscreen supplies and make sure to restock! We’re loving the Kiss My Face line of sunscreen and Super Salve’s Sierra Madre Sun Cream! Both are protective and moisturizing – perfect for the Lake or the Playa! For a little extra skin love, try Super Salve’s Mimosa Blossom Dream Cream. It smells divine and will soften and hydrate your skin!
The great thing about August is the fresh tomatoes! Tomatoes are great for brightening dull, damaged skin. Paired with cucumbers, this DIY mask will help soothe and hydrate skin!
Tomato- Cucumber Mask
You’ll need: ¼ cucumber AND ½ ripe tomato
Wash and peel your cucumber, then blend it into a fine pulp with the tomato. Apply to skin and let sit for 15 minutes. (This mask is a bit watery so be sure to have a towel handy to protect your clothes!) Rinse with cold water.
This recipe could also be easily altered. If you’re skin is more blemish prone, switch the cucumber for 1 tbs of honey!
For the changing seasons, consider aromatherapy! Our olfactory nerves are pretty powerful and can help us get into specific mindsets, helping with transitory periods. Some products to try to get back into the Back to School mindset are Dr. Bronner’s castile soaps and Aura Cacia’s Essential Solutions. If you’ve experienced the uplifting scents of Dr. Bronner’s castile soaps, you’ll know that each one can help lift your mood. With school starting soon, Dr. Bronner’s Lavender soap can help calm any back to school anxiety. Peppermint also helps with memory – great for high school students who are prepping for big exams like the SAT and ACT! Aura Cacia’s Essential Solutions also offers great mixes of essential oils to get you back into the swing of school. Try Creative Juice for a bit of inspiration!
