Important information about GBCFC Community Space

Dear users of GBCFC community space,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce a change to our community space use policy. The context of this announcement is that we are in the process of paying back $111,000 in member loans this year, and so our budget for outreach activities is very tight.

While providing space for classes and events is a worthwhile cause in our eyes (both as one of our Ends and as part of our vision for the future of the Co-op), the resources and time that are required to manage the space has grown out of our manageability for the medium-term. Therefore, we will no longer be offering the space for free or 15% after February 28th.  If a group wishes to use the space for any purpose, it can be rented for $50/hour.

This means that for any class, workshop or meeting that is scheduled after February 28th, we will be unable to host under our previous arrangement.  If you have an event that is scheduled after Feb 28th, please be in touch with me if you would like to keep it on the schedule.

The space will still be available for catered events that can be arranged through the Co-op kitchen.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience this will cause. Alternative space options are available that you may look into, including the VSA (across from the Co-op), the Washoe County Public Library, and the California Building at Idlewild.
