We’ve been duped for a lot of years in believing that healthy fats like avocados, coconut oil and ghee were all bad for us because they have saturated fats in them. This propaganda came out in the 80s when sugary additives were on the rise and companies could make a fortune selling super processed high sugar/carb but low fat items…not to mention those fats were cheap/inflammation inducing vegetable oils like canola, soy, and corn. GOOD saturated fats can actually help curb sugar cravings and afternoon slumps as those forms of saturated fats have a shorter bond, helping the body to use it for energy or a quick pick-me-up much more efficiently than poly or mono unsaturated vegetable oils. My own experience is that good saturated fats made me feel full and satiated longer. I also saw a nice shined glow in both my hair and skin when consuming daily. Good source to read more about this is Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon or anything by Mary Enig (she wrote Eat Fat, Lose Fat). Research aside, who doesn’t love guacamole???
