Hulsman Ranch Visit

Hannah of Hulsman Ranch touches her heart a lot when she talks about her cattle, her sheep, and the meadows that they graze in Lassen County. Yesterday a significant chunk of our staff got to spend the day with her to learn about how women have run the Hulsman Ranch operation since 1914, the heritage shorthorn variety that her family has kept alive since the mid 1800s, and the conservation aspects of her passive irrigation and non-till ranch land. Every time she touched her heart I felt liquid well up in my eyeballs. Her love for her land and every living specie on it. In this first picture she is showing us where the old cabin burned down and in this old metal fireplace they found a baby fawn. You can see more images from our visit here: Hulsman ranch photos
